Our jewelry is crafted using high-quality materials, including sterling silver, 14K gold, and various ethically sourced gemstones. Most of our sterling silver jewelry is coated with a rhodium finish to provide added durability, shine, and resistance to tarnishing. Each order from Island by Koa Nani comes beautifully packaged in our signature box, ready for gifting. We also include a polishing cloth and a tarnish-proof storage pouch or box to help you maintain the brilliance of your jewelry. Additionally, your order will come with a warranty certificate as well as product care & repair instruction. Some orders may also come with our limited new arrivals catalog. Do your sterling silver pieces tarnish?
Sterling silver can tarnish over time, especially when exposed to salt air, chlorine, sulfur, humidity, and certain chemicals. However, all our sterling silver pieces are rhodium-plated, which significantly reduces tarnishing and helps maintain their shine. Proper care and regular use can also minimize tarnish.
Are your gemstones natural?
Yes, we use natural gemstones in our designs. Each stone is hand-selected for its quality, beauty, and durability. We also offer lab-created stones as a more sustainable alternative for select pieces.
What is gold vermeil jewelry?
Gold vermeil (pronounced “ver-may”) is a high-quality gold jewelry made with a base of 925 sterling silver. To be classified as gold vermeil, the gold layer must be at least 2.5 microns thick and of at least 10K gold. At Island by Koa Nani, we use a thicker plating of 14K gold to ensure a longer-lasting finish and superior quality. Gold vermeil offers a luxurious look similar to solid gold but at a more accessible price.
How do I care for my jewelry?
We recommend storing your jewelry in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Clean it regularly with a soft cloth, and avoid exposure to chemicals, such as lotions and perfumes. Detailed care instructions can be found on each product page.

How should I care for my jewelry?
- Sterling Silver: Store in a dry, cool place, ideally in a tarnish-proof cloth or pouch (like the one included with your order). To clean, use a silver jewelry cleaner and a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals like bleach.
- 14k Gold Jewelry: Clean with a mild soap solution, then pat dry with a soft cloth. Avoid exposing gold to strong chemicals, lotions, and cosmetics, as these may damage the finish.
- Gold Vermeil: Avoid too much exposure to water, lotions, perfumes, or chemicals, as these can wear down the gold layer. Clean gently using a soft cloth to avoid scratching the surface. Do not use abrasive materials or polishing cloths meant for other metals.
- Gemstones: Avoid extreme temperatures, sudden impacts, and contact with household chemicals to keep your gemstones sparkling.
How do I store my jewelry to prevent damage?
To keep your jewelry in pristine condition:
- Store each piece separately to avoid scratches.
- Use the tarnish-proof pouch or fabric-lined jewelry box provided with your order.
- In humid climates, consider placing a small packet of desiccant crystals in your storage area to absorb excess moisture.
- Avoid direct contact with rubber bands, as the sulfur in them can tarnish sterling silver.
Can I wear my jewelry while swimming or bathing?
We recommend removing all jewelry before swimming, bathing, or using a hot tub. Chlorine and saltwater can cause discoloration and damage to metals and gemstones. How do I initiate a return or exchange?
Please fill out a return request form and one of our customer support will e-mail you with return instructions and a shipping label. Please allow 1-3 days for processing.

How long does it take to process a refund?
