Do It Like a Wahine:
Creative Writer, Estefania Magdalena Villalon

In this section, empowered women from around the world show us how they work to achieve their dreams and what it means to be a woman in today’s society.

Steph is our very own creative writer here at Island by Koa Nani who is very passionate about sharing her stories with the world. From blogs about Hawaii, to interviews about strong female figures, her narratives will never stop surprising us and make us want to keep reading more! Steph is from Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina, and since a very young age she discovered her love for journalism and blogging. On the weekends, you can usually find her surfing the waves at a beautiful beach in Oahu or painting a canvas in the company of her cat. She’s been with us for almost a year and has gone above and beyond expectations. We love working with her which is why we were excited to share this very special interview!

How long have you been in Hawaii and what's your favorite part about living here?

Steph: This is my 5th year living in Hawaii and my favorite part about living here is sharing my everyday life with my wife and best friend Jandy and having the privilege of surfing the best waves in the whole world which I have dreamed of since I was a little kid.

Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.

Steph: We have a blond cat named Cinnnamonz. He is originally from Aiea, and we decided to adopt him during the pandemic when we were feeling a little bit lonely. Cinnamonz is like our son, and he changed our lives for the better. He is always there to cheer us up and give us love when we are needing it. He is also very funny.

What do you like to do on your days off?

Steph: On my days off I like spending time with Jandy and adventuring around the island. We normally go out to eat at new places and explore new beaches. I also love surfing a lot!

Tell us something about your job at Island by Koa Nani.

Steph: My job involves a lot of writing and critical thinking. I like analyzing information and sharing creative ideas with my work team. I enjoy spending time with my coworkers; they make me laugh a lot. I really love how Island by Koa Nani pushes me to grow and bloom to become my potential in different professional aspects and fields.

What is your favorite jewelry and why?

Steph: My favorite jewelry is the tennis bangle bracelet because I think it is elegant and classy. There are three gold colors and I usually like to match the three of them at the same time. I’ve been obsessed with these bracelets since I started working here.

Get to know her more @tefmagda.

My cats are like my daughters, haha. They cheer me up, too.

It’s interesting to learn about how people from far away places are drawn to live in Hawaii

Very Interesting article!

I’d love working for the Island by Koa Nani company too – only problem would be that I’d be tempted to buy all the jewelry and have no pay left LOL
I have to say that Hawaii would be an inspiration to many writers – it is so beautiful and diverse, each Island has it’s own unique features too.

I like learning more about the people who work at your company!
