How to Spend a Weekend on Oahu

Visiting Hawaii is an experience that surprises any human because there is probably nowhere in the world that can compete with the Island's beauty. Oahu, the main island where most visitors arrive, is undoubtedly a destination that offers multiple activities and natural attractions that will leave you speechless.

The most curious thing about visiting Oahu is that the landscape changes from one moment to another. You could be in the middle of nowhere feeling like you are in a Jurassic Park movie, but the next moment you could be in Waikiki visiting the shops and fast food places you can find anywhere in the U.S. Whatever the reason for which you have decided to travel to Oahu, Island by Koa Nani offers you two different alternatives so that you can enjoy the island according to the budget and travel you have in mind. Come to Oahu to rest, spend a quiet weekend, smell the sea, the mountains, and look at the stars before going to sleep! You won’t regret it.

Adventure - Low Budget

This option focuses on an adventurous-style trip with little economic expense. Take advantage of all that the island offers without having to destroy your pocket. You'll be surprised how much fun your trip can be without spending a fortune.

The best option is a hostel. Since the purpose of the trip is to immerse yourself in adventure, we selected the Backpackers hostel located in Haleiwa, North Shore. Other similar options could be the Superb THE BEACH Waikiki Boutique Hostel or the Polynesian Hostel Beach Club Waikiki! A room per night in a hostel varies from $35 to 40 dollars on average per person. You can select a private, semi-private, or shared room with more people depending on your personal needs and economic resources. In general, hostels offer bikes for rent, snorkel equipment for free, free WiFi, and free off-street parking. Another good thing about hostels is that it is easy to make friends from all around the world!

Since hostels have a kitchen, the cheapest option is going to the supermarket, buying the ingredients you need, and cooking your favorite meal with your friends. The best thing about cooking is that afterward you can sit on the beach and eat it while looking at the sea. There are also a variety of food trucks and stalls that will delight your palate with the diversity of options at affordable prices.

In my opinion, the best way to explore the island is by bike! By riding a bicycle you can see the landscape from a different perspective and feel part of what you are observing. It also helps you exercise and feel happier! In the hostel, they offer bicycle rental, so this should not be an impediment! Rent a bike and go to the beach you like the most or go on a hike to find that famous waterfall that you are so interested in seeing.

It doesn't take a lot of money to enjoy Oahu because all the natural attractions and beaches are free to enjoy. All you need is the desire to move and have fun! One of my favorite beaches to spend the weekend on the North Shore is Pua'ena Point. Don't be surprised if you see the sea turtles swimming all around! In case you are a big fan of long walks and hikes, don't miss out and visit the La'ie Falls!

Exotic - Flexible Budget

The exotic option is for people with no budget, who seek comfort, relaxation, and good service. If you want to spend a luxury weekend on Oahu, check out this option that you cannot miss out on for anything!

Resorts are places built entirely to meet all your needs in one place. The services are provided in an exclusive and personalized way, making your travel experience a memory of pure pleasure. These accommodations offer nightly live entertainment, pools, original activities to do with your ohana, beauty and nail salon, lounge pools and hot tubs, restaurants and bars, and spa. Other service resorts offer beach and lawn games, bicycle rental, fitness center, golf, helicopter tours, hiking and biking trails, horseback riding, kayaking, segway tours, surf lessons, board rentals, tennis courts, and a fitness center.

If you want to discover magical beaches, watch the North Shore sunrises and sunsets, enjoy massages, scenic hikes, and adventures, your place to go is Turtle Bay Resort. But if you want to enjoy the island without being too far from the urban area, you can stay at the Kahala Spa & Resort, or the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort.

If you would like to go out at night in Honolulu, Waikiki offers the most exclusive restaurants so you can enjoy a delicious dinner. Some well-known essential restaurants include Tommy Bahama Restaurant, Marugame Udon, Island Vintage Wine Bar, and Katsumidori.

To explore the island you can always rent a car with recognized companies like Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hertz Car Rental, or Hawaii Luxury Car Rentals if you want some extravagance in your trip. There are many fun things to do in Oahu, but you must not forget to visit our store Alamea at 2424 Kalakaua Avenue and get an exclusive design hand-crafted with the most exotic gems!
